چکیده

The frequency estimate for a real sinusoid provided by the periodogram has a bias which is particularly severe for a short observation interval. In this paper, two improvements to the periodogram are proposed to reduce this bias. The rst method transforms the real tone to an analytic signal while the second algorithm subtracts the negative spectral line from the received signal, prior to applying the periodogram. The performances of the two methods are illustrated by comparing with the periodogram and the Cram er-Rao lower bound.

Application of Artificial Neural Networks and Support Vector Machines for carbonate pores size estimation from 3D seismic data

This paper proposes a method for the prediction of pore size values in hydrocarbon reservoirs using 3D seismic data. To this end, an actual carbonate oil field in the south-western part ofIranwas selected. Taking real geological conditions into account, different models of reservoir were constructed for a range of viable pore size values.  Seismic surveying was performed next on these models. F...

Real-time fundamental frequency estimation by least-square fitting

The real-time performance of a fundamental frequency estimation algorithm depends not only on its computational eeciency but also on its ability to obtain accurate estimates from short signal segments. Previous frequency-domain algorithms make use of spectral analysis algorithms that require the application of a window function, which cause them to fail when signal segments are short and their ...

Estimation of harmonic interference parameters of surface-NMR signal using an adaptive method and residual signal power

Surface nuclear magnetic resonance (surface-NMR) method is a well-known tool for determining the water-bearing layers and subsurface resistivity structure. Harmonic interference is an inevitable interference in surface-NMR measurements. Accurate estimation of harmonic interference parameters (i.e., fundamental frequency, phase and amplitude) leads to better retrieval of power-line harmonics and...

Phase dependence mitigation for autocorrelation-based frequency estimation

The sinusoidal frequency estimation from short data records based on Toeplitz autocorrelation (AC) matrix estimates suffer from the dependence on the initial phases of the sinusoid(s). This effect becomes prominent when the impact of additive noise vanishes, that is at high signal-to-noise ratios (SNR). Based on both analytic derivation of the AC lag terms and simulation experiments we show tha...

Two Simplified Recursive Gauss–Newton Algorithms for Direct Amplitude and Phase Tracking of a Real Sinusoid

In this letter, the problem of adaptive tracking the amplitude and phase of a noisy sinusoid with known frequency is addressed. Based on approximating the recursive Gauss–Newton approach, two computationally simple algorithms, which provide direct parameter estimates, are devised and analyzed. Simulation results show that the proposed methods can attain identical estimation performance as their...
